I have officially been at work for two weeks tomorrow and I am starting to feel like myself. I get to help my students be their best version of themselves, have adult conversation with people I respect and adore, and come home to the very best baby and husband anyone could ask for.
I love my kids at school. I have tried a lot of things in my life and think I have finally found where I fit. Am I the best teacher? nope, not even close. But I am a teacher who treats her kids with the utmost respect and shows dedication. I am so lucky to have a career that I love. Not everyone can say they love what they do.
I'm also lucky to work with some of the most amazing people I have known. People who in two years have become friends that I will always have, because I cherish them. When Emmett was sick in the hospital so many people came to visit him and I. The night I arrived at Yale a wonderful warm third grade teacher came to visit me...I was sleeping when she walked into the room but just her presence made me feel good. she was the first person not in my family to visit and she was the perfect fit. She listened to me and got me excited just about being a mom. I was allowed to not be too scared when I spoke with her and I will forever be grateful for the support she showed me the entire time we were at Yale. She would literally bring us home baked breads and muffins to give us a break from hospital food and would just visit me. We would talk about school and everyday things, it wasn't always focused on Emmett. She felt like my tie to real life.
During our three week stay I had a lot of awesome friends from school visiting to make sure we were doing okay. They brought Emmett books, me sandwiches, and hugs galore. I also know that their prayers, along with the other hundreds of peoples prayers, helped bring him home and get him healthy. oh the power of prayer.
Speaking of that cute little dude. He is loving school and his newest girlfriends. I know that him being in daycare is going to be so good for him. He will learn from his peers and already has. He loves more than anything to sit in bed and giggle with Peter and I. My all time favorite time of the week is saturday and sunday mornings in bed.
Then there is the daddy. The man who I depend on more than ever. The one who loves Emmett like I do. The one who I will love forever. The one who will always make me smile. I love him. I know its lame but I do.
Also, other new news? We officially have a doctor in the family!!!
Krissy graduated with her PHD in Physical Therapy and has just accepted a job in Fairfield. It is so wonderful to have her in our lives. Emmett thought it was a very important day and decided to dress up real nice...
Sadly Saturday, May 16th was Ryan's two year mark. He has been gone for two long years. Missing him still hurts all the time, but I feel like a new normal is finally showing its face. We will see where this normal take us
